Target Audience

This program is designed for physicians.

Cardiac electrophysiology has grown exponentially; we have moved from the implantation of very large and poorly powered pacemakers to the deployment of transvenous MRI-compatible miniaturized leadless capsules capable of pacing for decades, from the implantation of large epicardial defibrillating paddles around the heart to the implantation of totally subcutaneous systems, from performing electrophysiologic studies with primitive bipolar catheters to having almost automated three-dimensional mapping systems capable of obtaining over 2000 arrhythmia points in just over 5 minutes.

Despite these advances, many patients live with cardiac arrhythmias and present to emergency rooms, internists, general cardiology, and electrophysiology offices with complex situations requiring rapid recognition and treatment.  This year’s summit’s objective is to inform all of us about the diagnosis and up-to-date management of conditions like supraventricular arrhythmias, ventricular tachycardia, atrial fibrillation, and cardiac device management.  As usual, we will review all recently updated guidelines on these topics and have sessions on the basic knowledge for the electrocardiographic diagnosis of arrhythmias.

OBJECTIVES

  1. Updates in the Management of Atrial Fibrillation
  2. How to proceed with anti-coagulation after left atrial appendage occlusion
  3. Recommendation of management of subclinical and device-detected atrial fibrillation
  4. Integration of wearable technology for arrhythmia detection
  5. Updates in cardiac ablation technology
  6. Review of cryoablation vs. radiofrequency ablation pulmonary vein isolation
  7. Appropriate risk Stratification for Sudden Cardiac Death in Athletes
  8. Evaluation and Management of Asymptomatic Bradycardia and Conduction Blocks
  9. Syncope: evaluation and management
  10. Appropriate approach to anti-arrhythmic drug use

TARGET AUDIENCE

This activity has been designed for internists, cardiology fellows, cardiologists, interventional cardiologists, electrophysiologists, cardiovascular surgeons involved in managing cardiovascular diseases, and other physicians interested in the cardiology field.

Legislative Conference Oct 2023

Legislative Conference Oct 2023

Engage, Advocate, and Influence: Don’t Miss the American College of Cardiology’s 2023 Legislative Conference!

October 15-17, 2023 | Washington, D.C.

The American College of Cardiology’s (ACC) 2023 Legislative Conference will take place October 15-17 at the Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill! Registration is now open for comped attendees. Don’t miss this annual opportunity to learn more about the major issues impacting the practice of cardiology and meet with your members of Congress on Tuesday, October 17.

This year’s conference occurs during an important time as Congress is considering policies that would stabilize the Medicare payment system, address health care workforce shortages, decrease health care delivery inequities across the nation and more. National attention on these issues, among others, further underscores the importance of continuing ACC’s advocacy work on behalf of clinicians, patients and the entire medical community.

The conference will commence on Sunday, October 15, with an exclusive HeartPAC donor event, featuring political experts who will provide insight into the dynamics of this Congress and how that will impact next year’s elections. This event has a separate registration process – please contact Ryan Moore (rmoore@acc.org) to register or for more information.

On Monday, October 16, there will be educational sessions featuring leaders in cardiology and top advocates briefing attendees on the hot-button issues that impact cardiovascular professionals across the country.

On Tuesday, October 17, conference participants will join pre-arranged meetings with members of Congress and their staff to discuss ways to improve cardiovascular care and health policy.

This is your chance to ensure the voice of cardiology is heard on Capitol Hill. Detailed information on how to register is below.

Conference Registration:

Click here to complete the online registration form.

Together, we can help shape health policy and show Congress how ACC is leading the transformation of patient care. We hope to see you in October!

Sincerely,
The ACC Advocacy Team

ACC.21 Moving to All Virtual

ACC.21 Moving to All Virtual

Dear Colleagues,

As planning for a hybrid ACC.21 kicked into high gear last year, the College was hopeful that delaying the meeting until the Spring would allow an opportunity for ACC and its membership to safely reconnect in Atlanta, GA, for the 70th Annual Scientific Session & Expo. Unfortunately, with the continued presence of COVID-19 and a sudden, sharp increase in ongoing travel restrictions imposed by health care institutions, academic medical centers and exhibitor companies, the decision has had to be made to transition the meeting from a hybrid model to entirely virtual.

While we are saddened that we will need to wait another year before seeing everyone in person, plans for ACC.21 are continuing but as an all virtual experience! Building on the success of last year’s meeting, ACC.21 will be a world-class program delivered through an innovative digital platform built for learning, collaboration, and networking. ACC.21 will also offer a robust virtual Expo with both exhibits and education from our signature Learning Destinations and, last but not least, more opportunities for you to engage and interact with your colleagues from around the world.

Stay tuned for more details as the ACC.21 Program Committee works to finalize the line-up of sessions. For additional information, please review our FAQs, which will be updated as planning continues.

Thank you for all that you do every day to serve your patients and your communities and we look forward to reconnecting virtually with all of you in May.

Sincerely,

Pamela B. Morris, MD, FACC
ACC.21 Chair

Douglas E. Drachman, MD, FACC

ACC.21

ACC.21

The American College of Cardiology is excited to announce new dates for the 70th Annual Scientific Session & Expo in Atlanta, GA. The three-day meeting will now take place from May 15 – 17, 2021, providing an engaging and interactive forum to reFocus on Science and reConnect with Patient Care.

ACC.21 is THE opportunity to reImagine Global Heart Health with a focus on the latest science, innovation and practice-changing updates in care in a safe environment being planned with the latest health and safety guidelines in place.

In tandem with ACC.21 in Atlanta, ACC is planning a robust and engaging ACC.21 Virtual that will allow colleagues who are unable to attend in person to participate real-time with a global audience.

Registration for ACC.21 and ACC.21 Virtual will open in October 2020. Stay tuned for more information as planning continues!
