Target Audience

This program is designed for physicians.

Need Assessment

The Puerto Rico Chapter of the American College of Cardiology, on its 35th Meeting, will provide the most updated information regarding the management of basic and complex cardiovascular diseases and practice improvement. A well-balanced scientific program has been developed, emphasizing appropriateness of care in patients with progressive and cardiovascular diseases and other relevant conditions carrying significant morbidity and mortality in our population. Also, will highlight the application of current guidelines, existing and new technologies, and breakthroughs in the management and prevention of cardiovascular diseases.

Learning Objectives:

At the end of the program the participant should be able to:

1. Review current management of arterial hypertension, as per latest guidelines.

2. Understand the role of denervation and stenting in managing renovascular hypertension.

3. Learn about new evidence involving the use of Artificial Intelligence in diagnosing and treating arterial hypertension.

4. Focus on early recognition and management of puncture-related complications in the cath lab.

5. Review data of the use of antiplatelet monotherapy after stenting.

6. Learn about how the new transcatheter valve therapies available can be useful treating mitral and tricuspid pathologies.

7. Review the diagnosis and current management of pulmonary hypertension.

8. Learn about how to properly treat acute and chronic pulmonary embolism.

9. Review the latest guidelines regarding management of atrial fibrillation.

10. Discuss the best approach to prevent sudden cardiac arrest and its complications.

11. Obtain a better understanding of how diabetes mellitus and sleep disorders can increase cardiovascular risk: a focus on preventive strategies.

12. Learn about how to effectively manage lipids: a guide for everyday cardiologist.

13. Understand how the new weight loss management strategies (invasive and non-invasive) can improve cardiovascular health in obese patients.
